Collection: AW26 Dolor Et Lux (Pain and Light)

Pain and beauty, as inseparable as yin and yang, as day and night.

A perennial linkage.

IF I had never experienced pain, would I understand the potent depth of beauty?
Would I look at the trees dance in the wind as I do now, if the pain i've felt had never existed? Would coffee taste the way it does if pain was a choice?

The ability to feel into the pain of life and acknowledge the whirling discomfort opens the door into the process of seeing where the beauty lies. We are able to alchemise the heart break, the lack of knowing, the longing into art.

It is truly a gift to find solace from pain when embracing what is, channelling the anguish into art form and expression. Understanding that pain is the essence of being alive, and that being alive is beautiful.

As emotional and creative beings with physical bodies that break bones and fall ill - we have found a way to bring light and connect through pain and art.
and that is what beauty is to me.

My standard of beauty is not of patriarchal value, it's not the mainstream standard.

It is the soul, it is connection, it is expression.

This moment in time with Hannah bearing her heart and allowing it to be seen by Lizzie is our ode to transcending pain into beauty.

Telling our stories, spoken and unspoken, from start to finish.
